WISE COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
& HISTORICAL COMMISSION

Welcome to the website for Wise County Historical Society, Inc. and Wise County Historical Commission.

This site was also home to the Wise County Heritage Museum housed in a 130-year-old building which was originally the Decatur Baptist College, located at 1602 South Trinity Street in Decatur, Texas.  Though we lost this beautiful old building and all its contents to a devastating fire in March 2023, the Historical Society and the Historical Commission are still alive with the activity of preserving Wise County’s past.

While our main building may have been lost we are currently officed just off the Decatur Square at 114 E. Main Street, Suite C in Decatur, Texas.

We are only accepting monetary donations at this time. Donations may be made by credit card on this website or by check by mailing to 1602 S. Trinity St, Decatur, TX. The museum is still using the original address for all mail. We can also take credit card donations on the phone. We are still taking research requests; please call 940-627-5586 or email [email protected].
