CURRENT PROJECTS

Two Major Projects

  1. Select demolition of the burned-out museum building has been completed. We are in the process of evaluation and cost determination of replacement of the old DBC building in some form. This is a major capital project and your donations make a  difference in how we progress in the future.  Please help!  Donate today!
  2. The Harding-Gregg Cabin was donated to the Wise County Historical Society, Inc. early in 2023 by the Boyer family.  The cabin has been recently preserved by local preservationist, Bill Marquis and efforts have begun to possibly apply for a Texas Historical Commission marker.  We hope to eventually include the Cabin in a historical learning center. It is currently located at the corner of CR 4226 and CR 4127. Call or email us for an appointment to see the cabin.
  3. Our new location at 119 N. State St. on the Decatur Square has opened, and we are open 10am to 3pm every weekday. We are looking for volutneers to help us open on Saturdays. If you are available please reach out!

Any donation, large or small, is appreciated and will be used to help us preserve history and educate the community about our shared past. VOLUNTEER Our volunteers are what keep us going. We are always looking for people willing to help with a variety of tasks, including lawn care, office filing, staffing events, and many other things. With the tragic loss of the Wise County Heritage Museum building in 2023, we need your help more than ever. We continue to move forward and are working to restore the site to house important local artifacts and historical documents. Fortunately, there are many ways you can support us in this effort.
